Hmong Languages in Ha Giang making up one of the world’s largest language families, the Hmong-Mien languages originated in the mountainous areas of central southern China. Driven south by the Chinese, many of the Hmong and Mien people migrated from that area to northern Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. The two main branches of the language family are Hmongic and Mienic.
